Song Blocker

Song Blocker: You and your kid(s) are driving in the car, when your favorite song comes on the radio. Excited, you turn up the volume and sing along as if your auditioning for American Idol (you definitely wouldn't make it to Vegas, but nobody would deny your passion and focus). Mid falsetto you hear the familiar call of your child, "Mommy! Mom! MOM!"

Trying your best to ignore your kid (who surely doesn't want anything important. He's not bleeding, crying, or choking), you turn up the radio. However the calls are getting louder, your patience getting thinner, and it's very apparent that American Idol will not be picking you this season. You begrudgingly turn down the radio and answer your child.

Once you have explained the theories of quantum physics to your 5 year old, you turn up the radio to find that your favorite song is over.

You have just been Song Blocked! And your child is a Song Blocker!

When I start singing, my daughter tells me I am shortening her life with the horrible noise coming out of my mouth, so "Would you please not do THAT any more?"

I think I would prefer, mommy, mommy, mommy

LOL

:o) Have a Happy Monday!

When I am in the car singing my son jumps in and we start looking for duets. But he always brings up my mom. He likes to make fun of her singing. Which isn't singing at all lol. She is one of those that doesn't know the words so she does a kind of whining hum through the song. But is jamming like a rock star lol

Hi, Just a friendly reminder that tomorrow is the second post on “What would your children say?” “Wednesday” It’s going to be fun sharing all those wonderful adventures our children do and say. I can’t wait. Please tell us all about them. Hope to see you tomorrow. Go to the logo that says “What would your children say?” “Wednesday” for full details.

It's funny how that works, isn't it. And the urgency in their voice seems to be in the same proportion as your desire to HEAR THAT SONG!

my kids ask for the song to be TURNED up and then they CONTINUE to talk over it.

*sigh*

My parents listened to talk radio. I think I did a fair share of talk blocking.

kinda like when your wife see you intensely involved in your favorite throw back song(a song not often played) and she chooses that moment to talk to you about the poop diaper your son made earlier that day......yea i feel you.

Hi Following from MBC followers club! Oh man Sophie always asks for HER music. It stinks. However, sometimes it is good. They had that Lady Gaga on with her poker face song on Idol or SYTYCD and my friend really liked it so she put it on her ipod. When the fam was on the vacation drive it came on and her husband Blocked her as soon as he heard the words "i'm not bluffin' with my muffin'. I laughed hysterically because I did not really hear all the lyrics the first time either. Uh Oh!

While in the car with my boys just a few minutes ago, my oldest son proceeded to tell me that Daddy's music is much cooler than my music. I was singing to a song on the radio at the time he told me this. At least he didn't insult my singing, just my music :-) I love your blog! I came across it on the MBC Follow Me Club!

HILARIOUS!!!!! And SO true. Usually my daughter wants us to sing with her. And play drums on our knees, and whatever else she is doing at the time!
